Fright Night Remake Finds a Director?
One remake that's having a devil of a time getting off the ground is DreamWorks' proposed retelling of the 1985 Tom Holland helmed vampire camp classic Fright Night. After a long time in the oven, it finally looks as if a director is ready to take the reigns.
According to the LA Times the remake has been placed on the "high priority" list, and the man taking the helm? Lars and the Real Girl's Craig Gillespie, who will be working from a script by Marti Noxon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer"). Michael De Luca and Alison Rosenzweig are producing.
In the original film the story revolved around a teenager who discovers that his new next-door neighbor is a vampire looking to kill, cause chaos, and generally make life hell for the young lad. How far will this one stick to formula? Only time will tell. In the interim check out the trailer for the source material below.

Now this is how to start off a news week! The trailer for In Their Sleep (or Dans ton sommeil) debuted this weekend, and it's looking like first-time directors Caroline du Potet and Eric du Potet are up to the task of terrorizing audiences the world over. The film open in France this month. The rest of us will hopefully see it shortly thereafter. Synopsis

TERRIBLE remake idea.
Without the 80's or Tom Holland this will not work.
Also, Roddy McDowall was brilliant.
I will still away from any remake which will doubtless be dumbed down and romanced up for the Twilight crowd.
