Danny Glover Goes Moby Dicking for a White Dragon
He's killed a Predator, been murdered by Jigsaw, and spent considerable time being too old for this shit with Mel Gibson; now Danny Glover is taking on the Captain Ahab role and hunting a great white dragon in Dragon Fire, a fantasy reworking of the classic tale of Moby Dick.
The $5 million Herman Melville-inspired dragon flick shooting on location in Utah is being directed by Ryan Little (Forever Strong, House of Fears). As if dragons weren't ferocious enough, Vinnie Jones co-stars as Stubbs. Call Corey Sevier (Decoys 2, House of Fears) Ishmael. A possible limited theatrical release could be in the works for the fall.
Not much else about Dragon Fire out there at this time. In the meantime here's a YouTube video of a local Utah news station's set report complete with a look at crazy-eyed Glover and a rubbery dragon.

Danny Glover's becoming the black Shatner isn't he?

Might as well. Samuel L. Jackson has already become the black Vincent Price.

Danny Glover must be hungry, that scene got thoroughly chewed.

If this does hit theaters I'm so there! Sounds cool!

This does not sound cool to me. I love Moby Dick and I love dragons but a Moby Dick/dragon movie set in Utah? Ha. I'll just stick to Reign of Fire and patiently wait for Smaug.

Filmed in Utah, not actually taking place in Utah. It's not called Reign of Osmonds.

Haha, that cracked me up.

Well, this is probably as good as it gets for Danny Glover. Why exactely is DC covering this movie?

It's got dragons, man! Actually, Foy is allowed to stray outside the strict horror boundaries because what he uncovers is always so damn entertaining. And as we've said over and over, we're willing to stretch the definition of "genre" if it's something we think our readers would be interested in.

Ah, I missed that is was Foy. I should have known. Makes more sense now.

Know what makes more sense? It's a movie about a killer dragon, which is a subject the site has covered before, and it's a movie about a crazy guy hunting a killer monster, also a subject we have covered before. This is hardly that far out of the genre to warrant a "Why exactly are you covering this?" Don't you start going Terminal on me too or I'll lock the two of you in a room with only the steak bone from Law Abiding Citizen to fight each other to the death.

I knew you'd mention me in this thread. Either I'm vain or you're predictable.
And you laugh, but I'm a scrapper. I've learned to fight to the death with anything handheld. Being piss poor can do that to a person.

Haha, it was the whole Moby Dick angle that threw me off.

And we are interested! Dragons vs. Danny Glover, hell yeah!
