Robert De Niro Heads Off into The Dark Fields

Robert De Niro Heads Off into The Dark FieldsHere at Dread Central there are certain actors whom we will watch no matter what they do. One such person who falls under that category is the legendary Robert De Niro, and we get especially excited when it turns out that his next flick will be in the horror genre!

According to Variety De Niro is set to star next to the already announced Bradley Cooper and Elizabeth Banks in Neil Burger's feature film adaptation of The Dark Fields for Relativity Media. De Niro will play a brilliant financial mogul who begins pursuing Cooper's character.

The film, which is based on the book by Alan Glynn, follows a down-and-out writer (Cooper) who gets his hands on a top-secret pharmaceutical drug that makes one smarter. He experiences sudden financial and social success but soon discovers that the drug has lethal and lasting side effects. Before long, mysterious antagonists are pursuing him.

Look for more soon.

NEXT STORY

Thank you for the heads up on this. Robert DeNiro in a horror flick really does sound interesting. This is surely going to be a big hit just because he is in it. We will come back for further updates.

I have gambled at many casinos online and the slot machines that this online casino offers makes gambling here superior.

Personally though there are actors I like (and some I really loathe) I won't see a movie based on a face.

Actors are just animated furniture. What matters is the director and writer.

P.S. Unless the actor is a 'super star' like Tom Cruise or Will Smith. That means they will take a hand in the creative process (mostly to edit how their characters will be perceived by the masses). This almost always results in crappy movies.

You obviously come from the Hitchcock school of filmmaking.

People like Ingrid Bergman, Jimmy Stewart, Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe, Katherine Hepburn, Lon Chaney, Grace Kelly, Cary Grant, John Wayne, James Dean, and Henry Fonda are anything but animated furniture.

Animated furniture? You're kidding right? There are so many great movies that are great because of the performances. The best director and writer don't add up to much without actors who can pull the roles off and make them their own. So many of the most memorable lines in film were adlibbed. "We're gonna need a bigger boat."

Don't forget Dustin Hoffman leaning his head against Tom Cruise's in "Rain Man" and Brando picking up Eva Marie Saint's glove in "On the Waterfront." GREAT impromptu movie moments.

Okay, you're right, I'm being a little too black and white here. Still I honestly believe the best actor in the world can't save bad material. And yeah, if Clint Eastwood is in something I admit I'll see it (though that is usually because he directs it too).

I do honestly believe that the director and the writer are the primary artists. And a very good director and script can create a strong movie even if your lead is terrible. i.e. 'The Untouchables' featuring Kevin Costner.

His last two films in the genre (Godsend and Hide and Seek) were just horrible, as well as most of his recent work. I really think it's time for him to take a break or start reading scripts more carefully. Righteous Kill was one of the worst movies I've seen in years.

Love DeNiro but yeah his latest movies have been terrible. What went wrong with Rightous Kill? DeNiro and Pacino together should have been golden. 2 of my favorites and 2 of the most intense actors in Hollywood.
