DVD Releases: Feb. 16, 2010: She's Crushed by the Red Hook of Hellhounds

This week's 100% horror DVD and Blu-ray releases are very much on the skimpy side so we've included a few items that, while not strictly genre fare, are close enough that we thought they should at least be on the radar of our readers. But first here's a look at the pure horror (in more ways than one).

Both the Blu-ray unrated director's cut of the original Cabin Fever and the DVD of its sequel, Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever, hit shelves this week. In addition, Rick Schroder's Hellhounds (review here) is bowing this week, as are the lesser known entries 13teen, Freeway Killer, Quiet Nights of Blood and Pain, She's Crushed, and Red Hook. I think you can see why we opted to fill out the list a bit with Law Abiding Citizen, Revanche, and Halo Legends and just could not decide on a pick of the week. (Actually, we do have a pick -- Black Dynamite; it's not horror in the least, but it's truly brilliant and a damn fun time.)

Be sure to check back next week, however, when the horror offerings will be thick as thieves what with The Box, Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant, Sorority Row, and Dead Snow leading a pack of well over 20 flicks to choose from!

Just an oversight. For some bizarre reason neither the Cabin Fever Blu nor the Cabin Fever 2 DVD showed up under this week's releases. Thanks for reminding us!
