Considering the success of other fairy tale-themed shows, it’s hardly surprising that Lionsgate TV decided to try their hand at it. The good news? The source material is intriguing enough that it just might work.

The cavalcade of entertainment news spewing forth from the San Diego Convention Center is already in full swing, bringing word of what could be one of television’s biggest potentials. Lionsgate TV teams with Smallville executive producer Brian Robbins to convert a series of graphic novels into a weekly fantasy / adventure story.

A retelling of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, Wonderland is told from the point of view of Alice’s daughter, meaning whatever network this is on doesn’t have to stray too far from the usual CW pedigree these shows are outfitted with. But if anything is going to distinguish Wonderland from its peers, it’s the source material: Return to Wonderland, Escape From Wonderland and Beyond Wonderland have garnered much critical acclaim since their release and continue to be revered in comic circles.

No word on casting yet, but we’ll bring you more on this one as we get it.
