Goatman Terrorizes Dark Hollow
I've been wondering when someone would make a movie about a goatman. Though not specifically about the axe-swining Goatman of Pennsylvanian urban legend, the forthcoming chiller Dark Hollow, based on the novel by popular horror author Brian Keene, will offer up a satyr, a mythological half-man/half-goat, using its hypnotic powers to seduce a man's wife in order to keep its species alive.
After two miscarriages, writer Adam Shay’s marriage is on the rocks. On a walk through local woods rumored to be haunted, Adam come across a strange sight: a statue of a half-man, half-goat creature, a satyr from ancient legends, that comes to life before his eyes.
Soon, all the women in town begin disappearing, summoned to the woods by the satyr’s hypnotic piping. When Adam gathers the menfolk to hunt down the satyr and save the women, what they uncover is an unholy evil bent on protecting itself and spreading its seed...
Dark Hollow is being directed by visual effects artist Paul Campion. Campion's effects work can be seen in a myriad of films ranging from the Lord of the Rings trilogy to the upcoming Clash of the Titans redux and even in video games like Killzone: Liberation. Campion also directed the 2006 short film Night of the Hell Hamsters.
Production is slated to begin sometime late spring/early summer. The concept art below should give you an idea what to expect from this creepy horny satyr. Head over to Brian Keene's official website for even more concept art from the upcoming film adaptation of his Dark Hollow.
