Happy Thanksgiving '09 from Dread Central

It's hard to believe another year is in the can and we're going stronger than ever. We have a ton of stuff to be thankful for so allow us to indulge ourselves for a moment ...

Happy Thanksgiving from Dread Central

Speaking for myself and, I'm sure, Jon Condit and KW Low, my partners and fellow founding fathers of this asylum we all call home, we're thankful for all of our friends in the industry -- from press and PR to talent -- who have embraced us and let us become part of their projects to help out any way that we can.

We're thankful for our badass motherfuckin' staff, both old and new. We're thankful for the old-schoolers like Scott and Tabby Johnson, who always go above and beyond. For Nomad, who always goes the extra mile to make sure everyone's covered with the latest and taken care of at live events. For Buz and Andrew, both of whom we'd be absolutely nowhere without - there are no words that can adequately express our gratitude. For Morgan, who injects not only estrogen but insight into our little circus. And of course for the incomparable Foywonder, who's an enigma all his own.

Then there's the new breed, who have given us that spark of life we needed to keep going with their sharp insights, dedication, and willingness to kick a copious amount of ass in the name of horror and terror ... We're thankful for Heather Wixson, who not only knows her shit but knows how to deliver some of the best stuff we've ever had. For Sean Decker, who with his amazing experience brings us that much needed touch of class and professionalism. For Matt Fini, who's quickly becoming a voice within this industry to be reckoned with.

We're thankful for our contributors like my right-hand man and brother Joe Knetter (you keep me sane), Ryan "Plagiarize" Acheson, Mr. Dark, Heather Buckley, Jess King, Elaine Lamkin, Erik Van Der Wolf, those crazy Canucks Rick Trembles, Evil Andy, and Paul McCannibal, Sean Smithson, Scott Allie, Gareth Jones, Phil Newton, Joe Moe, Uncle Bob Martin, Rich Stahnke, Doug Slack, Carlee Baker, Brian Smith, Spooky Dan Walker, and anyone else who's ever submitted anything to us for publication. Though your roles may seem small, you're every bit a part of this family as anyone else.

Also we're thankful for all the past writers and friends whose hard work helped bring us to where we are today. The Bostaphs, Don Kaye, Ryan Rotten, Dave Manack, Bill Johnson, Sean Clark, Shane Churchman, Todd and Emilie Noetzel, Mike "Kryten" Syxx, and without question -- Johnny Butane. You're loved and missed. Thank you all.

To our web content editor Debi Moore, who's not only my own personal driving force but also the reason we all sound so much smarter than we actually are. Thanks for the faith.

Most of all we are thankful for you, our readers. We make no bones about it -- You're the reason we're allowed to even exist. You give us the ability and the want to do what we do. You're our peers. The blood running through our veins. We love you all to pieces.

You guys are all integral parts of our machine. Thanks for another amazing year. Here's to 2010!

Collectively this entire year's worth of work is dedicated to Lou Gentile. Words can't describe how much you're missed. Rest in peace, brother. We're thankful for every moment we ever got to spend with you. See you on the other side.

That being said ... Eat, drink, and be scary! And watch out for those damned turkey-induced tryptophantoms. They can be a real bitch! Happy Thanksgiving!

And thanks to UC and everyone who contributes to Dread Central. This is the premiere horror webesite on the internet, my favorite website to visit and one that I must visit frequently day and night because you guys never stop. The passion for the genre exhibited by all is unrivaled and is truly something that I admire about each and every one of you.

Also, wherever you guys are, a special thanks to Johnny and Ryan who got me interested in following horror on the internet to begin with. Hope you guys are doing well. Can't go without saying thanks to Foy either who's been around just as long and who writes the most entertaining reviews around even if I don't ever want to watch 99% of the movies he covers.

To even be mentioned alongside that list of names I love and respect is beyond an honor.

I love DREAD CENTRAL and it will always be my first home. ALWAYS.

Thanks for having a curmudgeon like me in the family, and putting up with my bullshit and sporadic contributions. I seriously cherish this place and the people I know in the "real world" that run it. My thoughts are with you all these holidays!

WOW! Another year has almost ticked by... but what a year! Congrats to you all for your success, and for producing and maintaining an outstanding website. IMHO DC is not only THE premier source for all things horror related on the www, but also a personal and friendly community of fans, friends and family. I take the sentiments you express above UC as from the heart - not some bullshit to keep readers feeling they are important - but the actual truth of the matter that the people who visit here ARE important to you all.

I wish everyone at DC a Happy Thanksgiving, and lots more success for the future!

I've been visiting Dread Central off and on for a year or so now, but it's only in the past few months that I've begun to post, having finally registered as a user here. It's an awesome website and has moved to the top of the list over Shock Till you Drop, Fangoriaonline and Bloody Disgusting as my go-to source for my horror news.

As a former print journalist and one of the current regular contributors (formerly under the moniker of Cinemascribe and now as Splatterscribe) for the Horrorwatch website, I have a real appreciation from a writer's perspective for the quality of the work presented here. Even if I don't necessarily agree with what the author is saying in some of the opinion pieces, the articles are as a rule exceptionally well written and the news we receive about our favorite genre is top notch.

So I'm thankful that all of you are on here helping to keep the blood flowing and the scares coming. Of all the sites I've frequented in 2009, Dread Central has done the most to bring a real sense of community and excitement back to being a horror fan. Good job, ladies and gentlemen! I hope each of you has a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving and I look forward to posting with more frequency in 2010.
