Finally! An Official Jonah Hex Photo and Synopsis

For the past several months we've had to make do with a paparazzi photo of Josh Brolin as Jonah Hex, but now finally, with the Jimmy Hayward-directed film scheduled to hit theatres on June 18, 2010, Warner Bros. has released the first official still ... and a complete synopsis.

The still is courtesy of Brazilian site Omelete.br with the synopsis being provided by its partner Collider:

Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin) is a scarred drifter and bounty hunter of last resort, a tough and stoic gunslinger who can track down anyone ... and anything. Having survived death, Jonah’s violent history is steeped in myth and legend and has left him with one foot in the natural world and one on the “other side.” His only human connection is with Leila (Megan Fox), whose life in a brothel has left her with scars of her own. But Jonah’s past is about to catch up with him when the U.S. military makes him an offer he can’t refuse: In exchange for his freedom from the warrants on his head, he must track down and stop the dangerous terrorist Quentin Turnbull (John Malkovich). But Turnbull, who is gathering an army and preparing to unleash Hell, is also Jonah’s oldest enemy and will stop at nothing until Jonah is dead. Based on the legendary graphic novel, 'Jonah Hex' is an epic adventure thriller about one man’s personal quest for redemption against the vast canvas of the battle between good and evil.

"based on the legendary graphic novel"

It never was a graphic novel. The omnibus editions are comprised of issues, many of which are self contained.

Looking forward to this, even though I can't stand Megan Fox.

I think they're referring to the JOE R. LANSDALE/TIM TRUMAN TWO GUN MOJO graphic novel from the 1990s. Not surprisingly, the story of the movie doesn't reflect any of the Hex stuff I've read.

Sounds pretty shitty actually. The animated Hex stuff that DC's doing is being written by Lansdale so it should be a lot better than the actual movie.

Wait! What? There's an animated Hex written by Lansdale?!?! Seriously?

I thought the same thing. Which graphic novel?

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Megan Fox massively overrated.

I've also already had my fill of Megan Fox. When I saw the first TRANSFORMERS I thought she was cool because she was new (to me) and was hot at first......but that has passed. Now I realize, she's really not even that good of an actress. NEXT

Apparently the animated Jonah Hex will just be a short attached to one of the DC Universe animated films. Not a full length feature. Damn.

I cannot count the number of times I've read Lansdale/Truman's TWO GUN MOJO and their equally as strange LONE RANGER & TONTO miniseries. I love the idea of the wild, weird west and if there's anyone can do it with style, it's Lansdale.

It's hard to imagine the pure spaghetti western on acid that would've been if the CRANK guys and Lansdale were given free reign in a crazy as hell R-rated flick.
