District 9 DVD and Blu-ray Specs
A couple of Dread Central staffers were discussing our preliminary picks for the best films of 2009 the other day, and one that we all agreed on was Neill Blomkamp's stellar District 9 (review here).
What we weren't sure about, however, was what we'd be seeing on the DVD and Blu-ray when they drop later this year, but today that question was answered for us. Per usual, DVD Active got the skinny, which is as follows:
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced 1-disc DVD, 2-disc DVD, and 2-disc Blu-ray releases of District 9 for the 29th December.
Extras on the 1-disc DVD will include a director's commentary, a 3-part documentary ("The Alien Agenda: A Filmmaker's Log"), and a Koobus Big Gun feature. The 2-disc DVD and Blu-ray releases will include all that, along with additional featurettes ("Metamorphosis: The Transformation of Wikus", "Innovation: Acting and Improvisation", "Conception and Design: Creating the World of District 9", and "Alien Generation: Visual Effects").
Artwork is still forthcoming but should show up shortly so keep it here for more.

It's no secret that my personal experiences with the films of Mark and John Polonia have not exactly been joyous ones, but I am happy to pass along news of their newest project, HalloweeNight, that doesn't look too bad for a Halloween-themed horror flick about a killer scarecrow. I rather dig that evil Jack Skellington pumpkinhead monster on the attack.

Anyone who wants to be a hipster jack-off and try and dismiss this movie can eat a dick.
It's an incredible movie. Amazing content with breathtaking special effects that makes Jim Cameron's over-blown Mechs-vs-Smurfs picture seem like a waste of time.

Not to worry ... it won't be anywhere near my top ten. :)
