eOne Flexes their Mortal Instruments Internationally

The tale of a teenager taxed with the unenviable task of protecting our world against hideous demons has proved to be a hot property at this year’s Cannes Film Market as new sales operation Mister Smith has locked a multi-territory deal with eOne for U.K., Canada and Benelux.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, a Constantin production based on the bestselling tomes by Cassandra Clare, has now virtually sold out by the halfway point of the Cannes market and less than three weeks since Mister Smith was launched.
In the film “Clary, a seemingly ordinary teenager, discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother, Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures.”
Jessica Postigo and I. Marlene King wrote the script while Lily Collins (Mirror, Mirror) was previously announced as starring. Look for Harald Zwart (The Karate Kid) to direct this adaptation of Book One of the young adult series.
