What is it about The Children of the Corn that has studios so hot to release sequels, remakes, and more sequels and remakes. The Weinstein Co. is out to bring us another shot of corniness, and they've even tapped a writer already.
Variety reports that the studio have signed on Ehren Kruger (The Ring, The Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) to once again adapt the short story by Stephen King pertaining to a little town whose children end up killing its adults.
We felt the New World film was a missed opportunity," Weinstein tells Variety. "If you read the short story, it's got such a strong feeling to it, and there's this religious overtone to it as well. Ehren wants to hit it hard. It's popular in Hollywood to say you're re-envisioning a project, but a lot of the time they're just carbon copying the original. We are bringing something new to the story."
As long as they keep Rob Zombie away from it so we don't have to be subjected to the white trash shenanigans of he who fuckin' walks behind the motherfuckin' rows, we'll give it a shot.

Ehren Kruger is cinema's kiss of death.

Agreed. Sadly, the movies based on his scripts keep making money, leading Hollywood executives to the false conclusion that he's good at his job.
