SDCC 09: Craig Perry Talks Motel Hell
After a Disney feel-good movie and (if we are lucky), before the final, FINAL Final Destination, Craig Perry hopes we can all return to MOTEL HELL!!
MGM home video has been kicking this one around with Steven C. Miller (of Automaton Transfusion) attached to direct. The take on the film gives much respect to the original while addressing things that were a little too "wacky" before.
"We want it to be a little more cohesive, but keeping that quirky sense of humor." It's all about appreciating the original while creating a scarier animal all together. Until this project kicks into full-gear, 63 people killed and a flaming race car in The Final Destination will have to do for now.

Saw VI brings us back to Jigsaw land ... along with whom ever isn't dead yet and those unlucky enough to fall into the newest, insidious traps. Do we take off right from where the last film lets off? My Jedi mind powers fail me as Betsy Russell and Costas Mandylor were tight lipped.

I love Motel Hell, and the "wacky" element is what makes it so fantastic, like the victims being buried up to their necks and hypnotized. The cook-off, Pig-head chainsaw attack, farmer Vincent, "cuz' it takes all kinds of critters to make farmer Vincents fritters!" So am I to assume it's going to strip the "character" outta the film and and make it a straight terror ride? It would come off like a TCM rip-off if that were the case. If they're going to do this, they should just make it a sequel.
