Shane Meadows to Helm Beware the Devil
Shane Meadows isn’t a filmmaker whose name is typically associated with our beloved genre. One glance at his IMDb resume reveals as much. But those guys are the ones who can occasionally surprise you with something truly special (not to mention I’ve heard raves about his 2004 revenge drama Dead Man’s Shoes). While Meadows isn’t necessarily a "horror guy", his upcoming flick certainly sounds like something that we’ll all be curious to see.
Meadows told Empire about his next project, Beware the Devil: “It’s based on a book of the same name, based on the life of a guy who, by getting involved with Ouija boards and the occult by trying to disprove it, trying to take the piss out of it, got possessed, had to be exorcised, and later became an exorcist himself. The guy it happened to has died, but his son’s a novelist, and he helped him turn it into a book before he passed away, and now I’m working with him to turn it into a film.”
You gotta love supernatural horror that’s got nothing to do with creepy Asian women, right? Possession flicks aren’t quite as trendy right now so I’m already looking forward to seeing what Meadows will contribute to the genre.

It’s always exciting when there’s another release from Synapse Films to look forward to. Their stuff is consistently high quality, and their catalogue is loaded with hidden gems that other companies wouldn’t normally touch. And while I’m still scarred from watching Let Me Die a Woman, I continue to anticipate each and every release. So it’s with excitement that I talk about their latest disc, Sick Girl.

sounds juicy! and legitimate, surprisingly. Can't wait!
