Despite fears that the spec script market is drying up, Paramount has acquired rights to Andy Burg's Hellified and attached Dan Bradley to direct it. Lorenzo di Bonaventura will produce.
None of those names sound particularly familiar? Well, Burg has been away from the scene since the early 2000's, when he left writing to become a Web entrepreneur. But now he's back with a "supernatural action movie involving a journey to hell". Bradley is a bit of a rising star. A former stunt coordinator and second-unit director, prior to revving up Hellified, he'll be helming MGM's Red Dawn remake. His previous action design credits include The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, Quantum of Solace, and the Spider-Man sequels. He also was second-unit director on Spike Jonze's upcoming Where the Wild Things Are.
And di Bonaventura? You may have heard a little something about his latest project, Transformers 2.
From the gist of THR's story about the sale (a six-figure deal), Hellified might wind up more action-oriented than supernatural, but as long as hell is involved, you know Dread Central won't be far behind!
