Video Trailer for del Toro and Hogan's The Strain

It seems like the latest new thing in literary promotions is a video trailer for upcoming novels. And there isn't a more highly anticipated book on the horizon than Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan's co-written The Strain, so of course it's gone viral too!

Thanks to Wired.com we've got a glimpse of the gory horrors that await upon The Strain’s printed pages.

There's also an excerpt from an interview with Del Toro in which he says he teamed with award-winning crime writer Hogan to give The Strain the feel of a science-injected modern television show (which is ironic, because the novel began as del Toro’s outline for a vampire TV series). "I’m not good at forensic novels," del Toro told Wired magazine. "When [Bram] Stoker wrote Dracula, it was very modern, a CSI sort of novel. I wanted to give The Strain a procedural feel, where everything seems real."

The Strain (review) hits bookstore shelves this Tuesday, June 2nd, from the William Morrow division of HarperCollins.

That trailer looks wicked. Looked like some Blade II vampires. I'll be anxiously awaiting this one.
