Welcome to Hoxford - Wishlist
As a writer, it can’t always be an easy thing to watch your novel take the trip to the big screen. The style or cast you envisioned may not always mesh with that of the director tackling the project. And while production has yet to commence on Welcome to Hoxford, the book’s author, Ben Templesmith, talked to MTV News about his dream cast and personal aesthetic preference.
"Well if it were me — and let’s be clear it’s definitely not up to me — you’d need someone who can really play with visuals and would be willing to use a lot less CGI and a lot more prosthetics/puppetry,” the writer said of his personal preference for the project. But less CGI in 2009? While I share his enthusiasm, he might just be living in a fool’s paradise.
Templesmith also revealed whom he’d cast if it were up to him: “I always saw someone like Katee Sackhoff as Dr. Ainley or, in my dreams, Winona Ryder,” Templesmith told MTV News. “The main delusional character obviously has a bit of a Riddick vibe, and I do love Vin Diesel’s voice, but really I have no idea on him. I would say Lance Henriksen would make an awesome leader of the wolf pack,” he added.
So there you have it. Straight from Templesmith’s mouth. Welcome to Hoxford was picked up by 1492 Pictures, the production company of director Chris Columbus. For updates, keep watching this space. We’ll bring you more as we have it.
