Messengers 2: The Scarecrow DVD News
I still have yet to see The Messengers. I hear it was pretty lousy. I even hear that certain people involved in its production wouldn't be too offended if you said it was pretty lousy. I hear lots of things. One thing I did not hear was anyone clamoring for a sequel, let alone a prequel. Producers in Hollywood with better hearing apparently did hear your cries and will reward us all with The Messengers 2: The Scarecrow in July.
The usually reliable website VideoETA has the straight-to-DVD prequel to the 2007 horror flick slotted for a July 21st release. The prequel, scripted by Todd Farmer (Jason X, My Bloody Valentine 3D) and featuring none of the original cast members, revolves around John Rollins - the simple North Dakota farmer from the first film, who struggles to save his farm and hold his family together. After placing a mysterious scarecrow in his field his luck seems to change for the better, but in return the act may cost his sanity.
No other DVD details are available at this time. We do know that unlike the original, The Messengers 2: The Scarecrow will be R-rated, promising "horror violence, sexual content, nudity, and some language." They had me at "some language".
Another thing I hear from those that did see The Messengers is the redundancy of making a prequel since the story has already been told. I hear Hollywood is nothing if not redundant these days.

Godzilla is capable of firing a blue ray so it only figures his movies should also be released on Blu-ray (This pun works better when spoken). The King of the Monsters will finally stomp his way onto Blu-ray DVD on September 22nd when the original Japanese masterpiece gets the Blu-ray treatment.

It looks like most of the other movies coming out of Hollywood these days whatever happened to the good old days of horror..i'll skip this one after seeing the last one.

looks like it'll at least be a cheesy little slasher.
