Werewolf: The Series Finally Coming to DVD

Werewolf: The Series Finally Coming to DVD (click for larger image)Get ready to throw away your bootlegs (you know you bought them)! Everyone's favorite TV Werewolf show from 1987 is FINALLY making its jump to DVD and this is the cause for much rejoicing!

TV Shows on DVD reports tonight that Shout! Factory has picked up the distribution rights for the ill fated series "Werewolf" and hope to be releasing it on September 1st of this year!

It's still very early in the game so there's no word on supplemental material at all but just to have clear non-bootlegged versions of all twenty-eight episodes and the two hour pilot? Holy shit! We can't think of anything today that has made us happier to hear.

For those who don't know or just don't remember the show starred John J. York as a lycanthrope on the run from a bounty hunter while trying to cure his curse. Sure that's basically the same storyline as the old Incredible Hulk series, but that show didn't have Rick Baker doing effects for a seven-foot tall werewolf damn it! So what if its mouth never closed. It was still badass!

Look for more on this soon. Many thanks to DC reader Amatsu Mikaboshi for the heads up!

Butane must be pooping his pants with excitement. The bleeding pentagram, the music in the pilot, the bad hair, ah, it's all coming back to me. Cannot wait to see Chuck Connors snarling again. You don't fuck with the Chuck!

Wow, I don't really remember much about this show. I KNOW I would have watched it, but I'm drawing a blank. Ugh!

This is indeed great news!! I have the bootleg too. I loved this show when I was a kid. I can't wait to get the DVD. I'm not 100% sure but I think the show may have been finalized on video like Tales From The Darkside. So it's possible it may be on par with those as far as quality. I'd guess they'd be straight transfers of old beta or 3/4 inch tapes. Could be wrong though. Still, far better than the VHS dubbed bootlegs I have now. Thank you Shout! Facory!!

Was this the show with Col. Dekker from the A-Team as the bounty hunter?
I'm TOTALLY down for some werewolfness.

I've been looking for something to fill my werewolf wants, skinwalkers didn't do it, I think this just might.
I'll use rise of the lycans until this comes out.
