Katie Holmes is Afraid of the Dark
Variety reported tonight that Katie Holmes has signed on for the Miramax film Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark which was penned by Guillermo Del Toro and Matthew Robbins.
Although Holmes is best known as Tom Cruise’s taller half, I’ve actually enjoyed her performances, like in Disturbing Behavior and the highly-underrated GO! .
Troy Nixey will be directing the film, which will be his full-length directorial debut. Del Toro became a huge fan of Nixey’s after his 2007 creepy short film Latchkey’s Lament.
Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark is based on the 1973 ABC made-for-TV movie about a young girl who moves in with her father and his girlfriend and discovers they are sharing the house with devilish creatures.
Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark will start shooting this summer in Melbourne. No other casting news has been released.

I always get this frat boy poseur vibe from Jerry O'Connell that makes me hate him so much. Completely irrational hatred; yet the hate feels so real. O'Connell has now joined the cast of the Piranha 3D and that means there's a good chance he will be eaten alive, which also means I might pay to see the film 100 times.
