Gossip Girl Jessica Szohr to be Eaten by Piranha

Just when you thought it was safe to run off at the mouth! "Gossip Girl"'s Jessica Szohr is the latest piece of fresh meat to become fodder for prehistoric fish in Aja's remake of Piranha in 3D!

E-Online broke the news today that Szohr has "has signed on to play Kelly, a hot young townie caught up in the excitement of co-eds who have descended upon the area for spring break.

Previously announced cast for the Dimension Films project includes Elisabeth Shue as the local sheriff, Ving Rhames as one of her deputies and Adam Scott as a Navy diver sent in to help rescue the town."

Dimension Films also released the official synopsis today, which you can dig on below.

"Jaws... lots and lots of jaws. From acclaimed director Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes) comes the new action thriller PIRANHA 3D, in the latest eye-popping 3D technology. A new type of terror is about to be cut loose on beautiful Lake Victoria. After a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area’s new razor-toothed residents. But our heroine (Elisabeth Shue) is seriously outnumbered, and with only one chance to save the lake and her family from totally being devoured, she must risk everything to destroy the aquatic carnivores herself."

Look for Piranha in theatres in 2010.
