No Sequel to MBV 3D

Lionsgate is looking to continue its love/hate relationship with fans. Despite its better than expected box office draw, there will be no sequel to Patrick Lussier's remake done right, My Bloody Valentine 3D.

Director Lussier broke the news to broken-hearted fans during his panel at the Fangoria Weekend of Horrors in LA. According to Patrick the studio has no intention of developing a sequel at all, preferring instead to leave this particular film as a one-shot deal.

Really? Seriously? I've gotta admit I'm pretty damned baffled by this news. Why not give the fans a sequel that they'd actually want?

Dig on the DVD and Blu-ray art below, and look for My Bloody Valentine 3D in stores on May 19th (pre-order it below)!

WTF? I guess today's studio execs just can't handle anything that is not a re-make. It might make all those atrophied parts of their brains hurt to deal with the concept of paying a writer to produce something that is not a copy of another person's effort(don't get me wrong. I like MBV3D remake). Maybe if the original had a sequel they would be doing it.

I read this alongside continuing coverage of Rob Zombie's (HELL YEAH!) hobo-Halloween and S. Darko, the apex of unnecessary sequels, and it's all I can do to keep my head from exploding. Hollywood has officially and completely lost touch with fans and with reality in general. And MBV was not only a lot of fun, but mainstream and marketable! Any hope there I may have had to ever see Trick 'R Treat is now gone. Hollywood seems more and more like its becoming an airline; they've decided that quality and customer satisfaction don't matter anymore as long as they can enough butts in the seats to turn a profit. I know that horror fans have long had an obligation to see movies, no matter how much they suck, in theaters, but for this (and many other reasons), I just don't think I can be that fan anymore. The power of the purse is the only power I have to exercise against such incomprehensible studio stupidity.

Okay, so from what I've been reading maybe I CAN have some hope for Trick 'R Treat after all. I won't sleep easy, however, until I have the Blu-ray in my hands. This story still irks me, especially when I hear the director was excited and had some pretty cool ideas.

Yet Rob Zombie gets to anally rape Halloween again and the Friday the 13th redux will get another film no doubt....I just don't fucking get it.

Maybe if they don't want to do a sequel, then can get the same cast of characters together and give us a decent remake of PIECES. That could be fun....

And Darren Lynn Bousman was not going to be involved with "Saw IV", and Rob Zombie was not going to be involved with "Halloween 2", and...

That is quite amazing really : A better-than-normal remake "You like it? THAT'S ALL YOU GET!" Guess better to do one right than to do one wrong and make more.
