New Trick 'r Treat Trailer

Good news, horror heads! The powers that be over at Warner apparently are NOT shelving Mike Dougherty's highly praised anthology Trick 'r Treat. Notice that I said apparently.

A new trailer has surfaced over on About.com that states the movie will be released this October. While there has been no official confirmation just yet, this newly cut trailer makes the release seem pretty damned likely. Cross your fingers and dig on it below!

Many thanks to reader Ian Gibbons for the heads-up!

Just casting my vote in saying that's a hellava good trailer. A horror movie, something setting out to tell you a scary story. Not goofy, not extreme, not pushing the limits, not some vanity crap. I've heard enough reviews from the few that have seen it that it's a great movie and I hope I enjoy it as well. I can say for sure I'll see it the first chance I get.

Question: is it better to have a good Blu-ray/DVD release and no theatrical run (Splinter, Rogue, etc., and Splinter's scifi--or syfy, Jesus--debut doesn't count) or be crapped all over in a theatrical release (Midnight Meat Train)? Personally, since I've concluded we're not going to see really good horror in wide release enough, I'd rather get a stellar DVD release with good features than have them skimp on the disc to cover the money they lost by not advertising the movie in a hundred art-house and dollar theaters. A theatrical viewing is once (maybe two or three, sometimes four); home video is forever.

What's a major Hollywood studio to do? Here it's been burdened with an original, entertaining, funny, intelligent horror movie. How can you possibly market that? Just because it's very limited screenings have generated such a massive buzz and interested all of us 'idiot' consumers, doesn't mean it deserves a theatrical release. We just 'think' we know what we want. Thanks Warner Bros. Really looking forward to Saw 6. I'm sure you'll be cramming that piece of crap down our throats this October. Any more remakes to look forward to?

At the end of the trailer they said a DVD and Blue Ray Release so it's most likely not going to theaters.
