Update: Amanda Crew NOT Elm Street's New Nancy

Amanda Crew Elm Street's New Nancy?A little news cruised in from a source close to the production of Platinum Dunes' remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. It seems Amanda Crew is being strongly considered to play the role of Nancy in the redux.

Normally we don't report on rumors, but this one seems a bit more concrete than most. Crew, whom you may remember from Final Destination 3, can currently be seen in the competent spooker The Haunting in Connecticut (review here).

Again, we have no official confirmation on this as of yet, but we'll do some digging. You'll know one way or the other soon enough. If it does come to pass -- you heard it here first.

Update:
We have confirmed that while Amanda has taken meetings for the role, she ultimately did not get the part. At least this gives us an idea of the type of person they're looking to cast. We'll keep our ear to the ground.

Shame, really.

She's a whole bunch o' pretty and a talented actress. She would have been a great Nancy.

'Moody goth chick Nancy..."

So goes Latino Review's description of the new heroine of the franchise.

Fuck dopey goths to an early grave. Give me a well-fed girl-next-door as the heroine, not some tween-baiting tart.

Me, I like moody Goth chicks.

I mean, all you have to do is quote some Baudelaire, mix in a few Joy Division lyrics, and before you know it you've gotten laid.

Good times.

That's too bad, I thought she would have been great in the role.
