Ian Somerhalder Joins Vampire Diaries

Warner Bros. TV has cast early "Lost" star Ian Somerhalder in the CW's drama pilot "Vampire Diaries". Let the female swooning commence!

Variety reports tonight that Somerhalder has joined the show and will be playing Damon, a smug vampire who can go from playful to evil in a split second.

Also rounding out the show will be Zach Roerig ("Friday Night Lights"), who will play the jock Matt, and Kayla Ewell ("Entourage"), who will play Matt's sister. Previously announced cast members include Nina Dobrev and Steven R. McQueen.

"Vampire Diaries" is based upon a series of books from Alloy Entertainment and centers on the trials and tribulations of a woman who falls for two vampire brothers - one good and one evil.

We know you're as excited as we are. Your enthusiasm is nothing short of infectious. Can someone please let me know when vampires can be scary foul things like in From Dusk Till Dawn please? Thanks. I'll wait.
