The mini-major announced that Collins herself will adapt her novel, the first in a trilogy. The second installment, Catching Fire, is due out in September. The Hunger Games, first published in the fall of 2008, takes place in a society in which districts pay tribute in the form of a teenage boy and girl who are forced to fight to the death on live TV.
