Fickman Creates Monster Attack Network
If you smelled what The Rock is cooking this weekend then you already know that Race to Witch Mountain opened #1 at the box office. If you smell what that film's director is cooking up next you'll pick up the scent of giant monsters and a special organization that deals with them called Monster Attack Network.
According to Variety Walt Disney Studios has attached Andy Fickman, director of Race to Witch Mountain and The Game Plan, to direct their big screen adaptation of the 2007 graphic novel Monster Attack Network about an elite government agency's resolve to protect America's coasts from huge, rampaging monsters with the intent of making it an effects heavy tentpole picture.
Adapting the graphic novel will be screenwriters Scott Elder and Josh Harmon, co-authors of a spec script Disney also has in the pipeline, Snow and the Seven, that reimagines the tale of Snow White by making her a 19th century British girl raised in Hong Kong who battles an evil force after being trained by Shaolin monks. Sounds like they picked writers with the right mindset for a giant monster movie.
Given Fickman's previous two films have starred The Rock one has to wonder if he will turn up in this film too. I'm hoping for at least a cameo, perhaps using visual trickery to cast him as two tiny twin Rock fairies that awaken a giant moth by singing Samoan love songs to it.
