We’ve seen so much unofficial stuff from Vincenzo Natali’s Splice that it’s kinda hard to believe there’s actually something official from the film. But your eyes aren’t playing tricks; on your right is a bit from one of six brand-new stills the boys at Bloody Disgusting got their hands on today!
Since it’s been a while since we talked about the film: Splice stars Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley as a pair of scientists working on splicing human and animal DNA. Their experiments are successful, but as you can see in the pic we have for you, the creation isn’t exactly well behaved.
Give a listen to my interview with Natali from a few months back to learn more about the film, and of course hit the B-D link to see the rest of the pics. Splice has a tentative release planned for September, 2009.

Splice is high on my list of anticipated movies for 2009. The promotional stuff from last year looked amazing.

Since Cronenberg is now directing mainstream action flicks with Tom Cruise I guess we have to settle for the people who grew up loving his early films making Cronenbergian horror films. Natali is a very talented director but his last couple features didn't quite live up to the promise he showed with CUBE. This, however, looks like it might finally do just that, and to be fair he wanted to make this film immediately after CUBE but couldn't find people willing to finance the thing.

That does sound and look super cool. I love the hands-for-feet look. I'm also a sucker for genetic mutation and bio-engineering freakouts (Cronenberg ~ Where's the love!?).

The synopsis really does give you Species flashbacks, and that's not necessarily a good thing. But hey, Polly's easy on the eyes and I do like Adrien Brody when he's not running around Skull Island. Might have potential.
Now I want to go rent The Jacket again...
