John Malkovich will be going head-to-head with Josh Brolin in the upcoming adaptation of Jonah Hex, Variety reported this morning. The film is finally set to roll in April after numerous setbacks and delays.
Malkovich will play Turnbull, a wealthy Southern plantation owner who believes that Jonah Hex (Brolin), a former Confederate soldier turned bounty hunter, is to blame for the death of his son. So that would put him firmly in the shoes of the film’s antagonist, I'm guessing.
Jimmy Hayward (Horton Hears a Who) is making his live-action directing debut with Hex, working from a script by Crank writers Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. You can next see Malkovich, albeit very briefly, in The Mutant Chronicles, which has its VOD debut on March 27th. We’ll have more on Jonah Hex soon, so don’t move!

Good actors, but I'm leary on the writing side of things, CRANK was an embarassingly bad film.

Nah, Crank was a lot of fun and it didn't try to be anything other than a lot of fun. From what I've heard, Pathology is an embarrassingly bad film.
But it's all right, they only wrote this one, they aren't directing, so keep hope alive!

Besides The Wolf Man I can't think of another film I'm more excited about than Johah Hex. Time and future updates may prove me wrong but so far each makes this sound better and better.
