Alex Winter Signs on for Gate Remake
Now this is some pretty damn cool news. Production Weekly reported today that Alex Winter (Freaked, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure) is now attached to direct the remake of Tibor Takács’ classic 1987 kids-in-peril movie, The Gate.
Freaked was Winter’s directing debut, followed up a few years later by the far more subtle Fever with Henry Thomas. Outside of Bill & Ted, he’s best known for his badass 90’s MTV show “The Idiot Box”, which really needs to find a DVD release someday.
PW says that there’s a good chance the remake will be in 3D, which is cool news, especially since we first mentioned the possibility back in 2007. Keep it here for Gate updates as more details are revealed!

I'm in. I'm a huge Alex Winter mark, and Freaked is one of my favorite movies of all time.

As a huge fan of "The Gate", this sounds like it'll be a fun time in the theater. Here's hoping it gets a theatrical release.
