Houston-based Group1217, LLC, has announced the beginning of production on new feature film 3 Solitude. The film is being produced by Group1217 co-owners Jesse Kozel and Annette VerHoeven along with producing partners Yvonne Maria Schaefer (YMC Films) and Thomas Raft (Jefatov Films).

From the Press Release:
3 Solitude will be directed by Michael Flores, whose supernatural web series “Western X” has garnered him much attention from Hollywood. Recently he was nominated by the Producers Guild of America at the Digital 25 ceremony in Los Angeles as well as winning Best Directorial Debut of New Media/Webisode at the ITN Distribution Film and New Media awards in New York City. Flores is the screenwriter behind 3 Solitude along with contributing story creator Jesse Kozel.

“This is an ambitious independent psychological thriller containing horror elements with many plot twists and multi-layered characters,” Kozel said in a recent interview. “We’re pulling from so many different genres in this one film; it’s going to be amazing. It’s a high energy, action packed character-driven piece, but all of this is happening within a heightened reality.”

Peter Greene (Pulp Fiction), Vernon Wells (Mad Max: Road Warrior), Ann Walker (Sordid Lives), Debbie Rochon (Colour From the Dark), Jason James Richter (Free Willy), Natacha Itzel (Swamp Shark), Jesse Kozel (Candy), Yvonne Maria Schaefer (The Child), Deneen Melody (Crestfallen), and Connor Fox (Ice Grill, U.S.A.) are all attached to star along with more cast being announced in the coming weeks.

Synopsis:
Cora O’Sullivan is the mother of two young children. When Cora turns her internal rage into vengeful aggression toward her eldest son, Joseph, both children are subjected to the death of their mother during a violent storm. This moment is cemented in the children’s minds, forcing Joseph to mentally break down and his sister, Anna, into a psychological state of shock, causing her to forget her entire childhood. The two children are separated; Joseph is raised in an insane asylum, while Anna is raised by a family not far away. They grow up apart but are psychically connected and haunted by images of their mother and grow up in fear.

Now an adult, Anna lives her life as normally as possible with the help of a psychologist. Her daughter, Alyssa, is about to be married. Before the wedding is to take place, information of a severe storm churning in the Gulf threatens to stop the event. Family and friends are prepared to ride out the storm, but they do not realize this mere storm is about to escalate into one of the worst hurricanes in history. The group becomes trapped, fearful of the storm wreaking havoc on the small coastal town. The violent nature of this storm triggers a stronger psychological connection between Anna and Joseph, leaving them both emotionally disconnected from their surroundings.

After years of medical treatment, Joseph has little memory of his sister. He lives in constant fear with visions of his mother appearing to him often. These shocking visions send him into fits of rage that require restraint and continued sedation. With the city under a severe hurricane warning, a mandatory transport of all patients from the asylum is ordered. A terrible accident takes place, sending three mentally damaged patients loose; one of them is Joseph O’Sullivan. The town’s sheriff is on the hunt for these men while trying to keep this quaint, coastal town from falling prey to nature’s wrath.

Attention, ALL readers of Dread Central! Yes, that’s right… every one of you across the globe! We’re helping our pals over at Blue Underground with a contest where they will be giving a Blu-ray copy of Death Line and Deathdream to one of you! To enter, all you have to do is use the form below; and you’re all set!

Also, to learn more about the titles, simply click on the names, and you’ll be taken to Blue Underground’s website, where you can see specifics about each film!

To reiterate, this contest is open to people across the globe. Anyone, anywhere, can enter. However, the contest ends next Tuesday, May 1st, at 12 midnight ET, so make sure you enter before then!

Death Line:
When a prominent politician and a beautiful young woman vanish inside a London subway station, Scotland Yard’s Inspector Calhoun (Donald Pleasence of Halloween) investigates and makes a horrifying discovery. Not only did a group of 19th century tunnel workers survive a cave-in, but they lived for years in a secret underground enclave by consuming the flesh of their own dead. Now the lone descendant of this grisly tribe has surfaced, prowling the streets for fresh victims… and a new mate.

Deathdream:
In this shattering variation on The Monkey’s Paw, grief-stricken suburban parents (Academy Award nominees John Marley of The Godfather and Lynn Carlin of Faces) refuse to accept the news that their son, Andy (Richard Backus), has been killed in Vietnam. But when Andy returns home soon after, something may be horribly wrong: Andy is alive and well… or is he? Produced and directed by Bob Clark (Black Christmas) and written by Alan Ormsby (Deranged), Deathdream was one of the very first films to confront the domestic ravages of the Vietnam War. More than forty years later, it remains one of the most chilling horror films of all time.
