Torrey DeVitto (aka Mrs. Paul Wesley) Joins The Vampire Diaries as a Recurring Character

After this week’s episode “The Vampire Diaries” goes on holiday hiatus until next year (January 5th, 2012, to be exact), and appearing in the first two episodes to air upon the series’ return will be the wife of one of its stars, Torrey DeVitto, aka Mrs. Paul Wesley.

According to THR DeVitto, who married Wesley in April, will play Mary, an intelligent young doctor intrigued by Alaric’s (Matt Davis) powers of recovery on The CW’s vampire drama. She’ll appear in Episodes 310 and 311 with a strong likelihood to continue on afterward.

In addition to her recurring role as Melissa on ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars”, DeVitto’s series credits include playing Nanny Carrie on The CW’s “One Tree Hill” and guest starring in episodes of “Castle” and “CSI: Miami”. On the feature side she appeared in The Rite with Anthony Hopkins and recently completed filming Evidence opposite Radha Mitchell and Stephen Moyer.
