Solomon Kane Gets More Genre Cred
An impressive lineup of genre actors have joined up with James Purefoy for Michael (Deathwatch) Bassett’s upcoming adaptation of Robert E. Howard’s Solomon Kane, the first in a planned trilogy, which we first told you about back here. Purefoy plays the eponymous hero.
Max Von Sydow (The Exrocist), Pete Postlethwaite (The Omen remake), Rachel Hurd-Wood (pictured, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer) and Alice Krige (Silent Hill) have all signed on board for the strange tale of a 16th Century puritan tormented by his past evils, who takes it upon himself to battle the evil threatening his kingdom.
Just how much of a genre pic this will be remains to be seen, but the pedigree so far is worth keeping an eye on it. Bassett and crew will start up production, working from a script he wrote, as well, in Prague this month, so expect to hear a lot more about it very soon!
