Scream Factory Bringing Spiritual Shocker The Binding to Home Video

Published

Showing the darker side of devotion when a religious family’s patriarch begins receiving visions of bloodshed, Gus Krieger’s The Binding is set to make you fear what you believe, and it’s soon headed home courtesy of our friends over at Scream Factory. We’ve got all the details today, including the trailer and cover art, so dig in!

From the Press Release:
Written and directed by Gus Krieger and produced by Michael Glassman and Scott Hyman, The Binding presents divine psychological horror through a modern reimagining of the Biblical tale of Abraham, who was commanded by God to bind and kill his infant son. A young minister’s wife (“Arrow’s” Amy Gumenick) attempts to reconcile her foreboding maternal instincts with her deeply religious husband (Josh Heisler) and his increasingly disturbing intentions. Is he receiving visions from God or unraveling within his own delusions of grandeur? How far will a family’s faith extend when their blind devotion means their violent destruction? Praised for its intelligent design, The Binding became a critical favorite through its celebrated performances and cerebral nuance.

Debuting on Blu-ray and DVD August 2, 2016, from Scream Factory (pre-order here), The Binding will feature a host of extras including over 20 minutes of deleted scenes, cast interviews with Amy Gumenick, Josh Heisler, and Leon Russom, a feature-length commentary track with writer and director Gus Krieger, and The Binding’s original teaser trailer.

Synopsis:
Once upon a time, God Almighty appeared before one of the chosen and commanded that he slay his own flesh and blood. Perhaps that time has come again…

Sarah Iman (Amy Gumenick; “Arrow,” “TURN: Washington’s Spies”) is a young mother and faithful minister’s wife. Her religious devotion and idyllic home life, however, are put to the ultimate test when she is forced to uncover the truth behind her husband’s horrific visions. As tensions rise and secrets come to light, Sarah soon finds herself spiraling toward a terrifying choice between faith and blood.

A tale of unthinkable horror in the tradition of Rosemary’s Baby, writer/director Gus Krieger’s journey into the darkest corners of one family’s faith features supporting performances by Leon Russom (True Grit, “Prison Break”) and Larry Cedar (The Crazies, “Deadwood”), with special guest appearances by Max Adler (“Glee”) Catherine Parker (Absentia), and Stuart Pankin (The Artist).

Special Features:

  • Over 20 minutess of deleted scenes
  • Cast interviews with Amy Gumenick (Sarah Iman), Josh Heisler (Bram Iman), and Leon Russom (Minister Uriel)

Published

Earlier this week we let you guys know that there is a killer The Strangers: Prey at Night fan art competition going on and you can read all the details on that right HERE.

But today we have some cool (if expected) news that The Strangers: Prey At Night hs officially received an R-rating from the MPAA.

The sequel has been rated R for “horror violence and terror throughout, and for language” and I think that makes about as much sense as we could have expected.

For those who are interested in such bits of trivia, the original The Strangers was rated R for “violence/terror and language” so there you go! Impress your friends with MPAA trivia.

Would The Strangers: Prey at Night getting a PG-13 have affected your enthusiasm for the upcoming film? Let us know below!

The Stranger: Prey at Night is directed by Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down) from a script by Bryan Bertino and Ben Ketai. It stars Martin Henderson, Christina Hendricks, Bailee Madison, and Lewis Pullman.

Artist Reimagines Superheroes as Tim Burton Illustrations

Published

on

The world of Tim Burton has always been full of imagination and wonder built on a surreal and often horrific foundation. Films like Beetlejuice and Sleepy Hollow capture the imagination with stunning visuals, all based on the mind of the visionary director. Burton’s artwork was also featured in his illustrated poetry book The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy & Other Stories.

Burton’s work has not only amazed viewers for over three decades, it’s also been an inspiration to countless artists and creators. Enter Los Angeles-by-way-of-Russia artist and animator Andrew Tarusov, whose work has been used by companies such as Cosmopolitan, Disney, 20th Century Fox, Maxim, and more. In a series he simply calls “Tim Burton’s Superheros”, Tarusov took 10 of the biggest comic book characters and gave them a dark twist that is 100% befitting of Burton’s style.

You can see a gallery of these images below. To see more of Tarusov’s work, head on over to his official website.
