Quarantine 2 Ready to Take Flight

The American version of [REC] known here in the States as Quarantine was pretty much a straight retelling of the Spanish film with some minor changes made to the story and a few key scenes. The first news of Sony’s Quarantine 2 has just broken, and it appears to be going in a completely different direction than [REC] 2. YAY variety!
Shock Till You Drop reports today that Screen Gems has hired John Pogue (The Skulls series for Universal, Ghost Ship) to write and direct the upcoming sequel, which will move the infected action from a doomed tenement building to a bustling airport.
Oh, the possibilities. Let’s hope that Pogue and company take advantage of every one of them! Quarantine 2 is being geared for direct-to-DVD release, but don’t be surprised if it gets a limited theatrical run. Hopefully upon arrival we’ll see [REC] 2 finally hit DVD here in the States as well. Look for more soon.
