The ‘Evil Dead Burn’ Teaser Trailer Is Vicious, Relentless, and Unapologetically Brutal

CinemaCon has become the Comic-Con for movies, and the biggest reveal in Vegas this week was the very first footage from Evil Dead Burn, the second of a new trilogy in the Evil Dead universe that sends the deadites running through a small city.

It appears that the CinemaCon trailer was cut specifically for the conference, because the one that played ahead of The Mummy in theaters was very different but delivered the same message: Evil Dead Burn is looking to bring back cruel, punishing filmmaking to cinemas.

The CinemaCon footage leaned extra hard into that signature franchise brutality, stacking one jaw-dropping moment after another: a car seat headrest turned into a weapon in the most grotesque way imaginable, fingers snapping off in a slammed door, and a body crashing into a dishwasher that’s basically a knife-filled death trap. Every shot feels designed to make you wince, then immediately rewind to see it again. Add in deadites doing things that should never be physically possible… like casually downing molten candle wax. It’s all so unapologetically mean, and I love it.

Even if there’s a lot less gore, the theatrical trailer for Evil Dead Burn still looks like a nightmarish symphony of violence. It shows a family being brutally assaulted in their house as deadites toss them around like ragdolls. The camera pulls back to reveal a woman crouched on the ground next to the title card: EVIL DEAD BURN. It gave me instant goosebumps.

How lucky are we to be in the midst of an Evil Dead universe, just a mere few years after Warner Bros. considered dumping Evil Dead Rise onto HBO Max?

With Evil Dead BurnSébastien Vaniček takes over directing duties in the follow-up to Evil Dead Rise, which also sets the table for next year’s Evil Dead Wrath. Warner Bros. and New Line are all-in on creating an Evil Dead universe.

Here’s the official synopsis: “After losing her husband, a woman seeks comfort at her in-laws’ in their remote home. But when they’re turned into Deadites one by one, the family reunion becomes a hellish nightmare. Soon she realizes that the promises she made herself in life matter… even in death.”

Family is the root of all evil…

Dune: Part Two actress Souheila Yacoub stars in Evil Dead Burn alongside Hunter Doohan (Wednesday), Luciane Buchanan (The Night Agent), and Tandi Wright (Pearl), with Erroll Shand, Edgar Price, Maude Davey, Keanu Karim, and Victory Ndukwe.

“I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts, from which you come away tested,” Vaniček previously said of Evil Dead Burn.

“I’m going to put all the horror I have inside, it will be cathartic, and if I haven’t ruined my career and I can continue to make films behind it, I will move on to something other than horror!”

From producer Sam Raimi, the new Evil Dead movie will now release in theaters on July 10, 2026.

Evil Dead Wrath will open in theaters in April 2028.
