South Korean filmmaker Yeon Sang-ho, best known for the global zombie hit Train to Busan, is set to return to the spotlight at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival with his latest project, Colony.

The film has been selected for the festival’s prestigious Midnight section, known for showcasing bold and genre-defying works.

Colony marks Yeon’s return to the zombie thriller genre, following survivors trapped in a quarantined building during an infection outbreak, battling ruthless infected beings.

The film stars Jun Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, and Ji Chang-wook, bringing together a high-profile cast for what is expected to be an intense, character-driven survival story.

Following its Cannes debut, Colony is scheduled for domestic release in South Korea next month.
