Jordan Peele-Produced Horror Is Now Streaming & Fans Are Hyped: “It’s Timeeeee for a rewatch”

God. Family. Football. Just in time for the holidays, the sports horror movie that caused a little bit of a stir in the genre space is now available to watch at home.

HIM follows Cameron Cade (Tyriq Withers), an up-and-coming star athlete who suffers an injury and fumbles his opportunity to get drafted. A second chance comes in the form of Isaiah White (Marlon Wayans), an almost washed-up football player who has the clout to secure Cameron’s spot on his dream team. As far as horror legacies go, HIM sits in an interesting place, as it features both a rising horror star and a comedy veteran gone dark. Withers also starred in the 2025 I Know What You Did Last Summer requel. Wayans is best known for helming the Scary Movie franchise.

Like so many of our favorite gothic tales, Cameron voyages alone to a strange and unfamiliar location — this time, a remote football training facility in the middle of the desert — and tries to make sense of the spookiness that plagues the place. Soon, he realizes, he may have to sacrifice his body and his soul to achieve the dream he’s had since childhood. Imagine Suspiria, especially Luca Guadagnino’s version, repackaged as a Nike ad and set to hip-hop.

While HIM was far from my favorite 2025 horror movie, HIM-lovers have been as rabid as the fictional fans that snuck into Isaiah White’s mansion. Along with rave micro-reviews all summer, the official HIM Instagram’s comment section was flooded with fans celebrating the news.

“I’m so excited to watch this again,” one Instagram user said. Another commented, “IT’S TIMEEEEE FOR A REWATCH (just the 5th time actually….).” Yet another commenter declared, “I truly feel like this flim is ahead of its time.”

This echoed sentiments expressed by Wayans himself, especially because HIM was unanimously panned by critics. On the opening weekend for the movie, Wayans posted screencaps of the Rotten Tomatoes scores for White Chicks, Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, and A Haunted House, along with those for Scary Movie 1 and Scary Movie 2.

“I respect critics. Their job is to critique. I respect their work. It shapes our industry. But an opinion does not always mean it’s everyone’s opinion. Some movies are ahead of the curve,” Wayans wrote on Instagram on Sept. 19.

“I’ve had a career of making classic movies that weren’t critically received and those movies went on to be CLASSICS,” Wayans continued, adding that people should go see the film for themselves.

For the horror fans who’d sell their soul to the devil just to watch HIM again, pump the brakes on your Faustian deal: HIM will be streaming on Peacock.
