‘Widow’s Bay’ Receives 19 Emmy Nominations!
Apple TV’s Widow’s Bay continues to prove the surprise hit of the summer, as THR reports that the horror comedy series has received nineteen Emmy nominations (yes, nineteen!).

Created by Katie Dippold and directed by Hiro Murai, the series follows “Mayor Tom Loftis (Matthew Rhys), desperate to revive his struggling community. There’s no wifi, spotty cellular reception, and he must contend with superstitious locals who believe their island is cursed. He wants these people to respect him. They don’t. They think he is soft and cowardly. And he is. But Loftis is determined to build a better future for his teenage son and turn the island into a tourist destination. Miraculously, he succeeds: tourists are finally coming. Unfortunately, the locals were right. After decades of calm, the old stories that seemed too ludicrous to be true start happening again.”
Also starring are Kate O’Flynn, Stephen Root, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Kevin Carroll, Dale Dickey, K Callan, and Jeff Hiller.
Dippold executive produced. Murai executive produced through his banner Chum Films with Carver Karaszewski, Claudia Shin, and Rhys. Murai directed five episodes this season, with Ti West, Sam Donovan, and Andrew DeYoung also directing episodes.
Clearly, the monster of the week seaside series has more than caught the attention of fans and critics alike. And we at Dread are always going to celebrate seeing a horror series like Widow’s Bay get the recognition it deserves. Congrats to the team and all of the nominees, you earned this!
