Apple TV to Take Fans Back to ‘Widow’s Bay’ for Season Two!

Apple TV’s seaside horror series, “Widow’s Bay“, has been a hot topic as of late. We here at Dread have written numerous articles on the hit show. Most who have seen it, rave about it. And if you’re one of them, I have good news for you, because the streamer has announced that they’ve renewed the series for season two!

The news comes on the heels of the show’s critical claim, as well as its certified fresh status on Rotten Tomatoes.

In the horror comedy show, “Mayor Tom Loftis (Matthew Rhys) is desperate to revive his struggling community.  There’s no wifi, spotty cellular reception, and he must contend with superstitious locals who believe their island is cursed.  He wants these people to respect him.  They don’t.  They think he is soft and cowardly.  And he is. But Loftis is determined to build a better future for his teenage son and turn the island into a tourist destination.  Miraculously, he succeeds: tourists are finally coming. Unfortunately, the locals were right.  After decades of calm, the old stories that seemed too ludicrous to be true start happening again.”

Also starring are Kate O’FlynnStephen RootKingston Rumi SouthwickKevin CarrollDale DickeyK Callan and Jeff Hiller.

Katie Dippold created, showrun and executive produced the series, with Hiro Murai directing.

Dippold executive produced. Murai executive produced through his banner Chum Films with Carver KaraszewskiClaudia Shin and Rhys. Murai directs five episodes this season, in addition to directors Ti West, Sam Donovan and Andrew DeYoung.

Said Matt Cherniss, head of programming at Apple TV, “From the moment audiences arrived in Widow’s Bay, they’ve been hooked on every eerie mystery, unexpected laughs, and cursed secret that Katie, Hiro, Matthew, and the entire team have created. It’s become one of those shows everyone’s talking about, and we’re thrilled to see audiences continue to embrace it. We can’t wait to return for another season.”

Added Dippold, “Season two is about how everything is great on the island and there’s nothing to worry about.

Hmm, something tells me season two will be the opposite of that.

Don’t miss the season one finale of “Widow’s Bay”, premiering Wednesday, June 17th on Apple TV.
