Every ‘Evil Dead’ Movie Is Coming to HBO Max Just in Time for the Franchise’s Return to Theaters

The Evil Dead saga returns to theaters this July, but before the Deadites descend on multiplexes, you’ll be able to revisit every previous film in the franchise from the comfort of your couch.
Dread Central has learned that beginning July 1, The Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, Army of Darkness, Evil Dead (2013), and Evil Dead Rise will all be streaming on HBO Max.
That means Sam Raimi‘s seminal 1981 classic The Evil Dead will be available alongside its legendary sequels, Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness, both starring Bruce Campbell as Ashley J. Williams, the S-Mart antihero who somehow manages to screw everything up while still saving the day. Or… does he?
Also joining the lineup are Fede Álvarez‘s brutal 2013 reinvention, which cleverly exists within the same continuity as Raimi’s original trilogy, and Lee Cronin‘s Evil Dead Rise, which proved the franchise could leave the cabin behind without losing an ounce of what makes it so special.
More than 40 years after Sam Raimi introduced audiences to the Necronomicon and Deadites, Evil Dead remains one of horror’s most consistently great franchises. Five movies in, there’s really not a weak entry in the bunch. Each one has its own personality, whether it’s straight-up nightmare fuel, slapstick horror comedy, or relentless blood-soaked carnage, yet they all somehow feel like they belong in the same twisted universe.
If you’re planning to catch the next chapter, Evil Dead Burn, in theaters on July 10, there’s never been a better excuse to marathon the entire series first.
Which is your favorite?
