‘Scream’ Parody ‘Scary Movie’ Comes to Digital This July

After a record-breaking opening, Paramount Pictures will send its Scream parody, Scary Movie, to VOD and Digital on July 21, 2026, Dread learned.
Marlon Wayans (Shorty), Shawn Wayans (Ray), Anna Faris (Cindy), and Regina Hall (Brenda) reunite in Scary Movie alongside returning favorites and fresh faces to slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every “final chapter” that absolutely isn’t final. Nothing is sacred. No trope survives. Every line gets crossed. The Wayans are back to cancel the Cancel Culture.
For those keeping count, here are some of the movies lampooned in Scary Movie: Terrifier 3, Weapons, Sinners, A Quiet Place, Halloween, Annabelle, MA, Get Out, The Substance, and M3GAN – it even takes multiple jabs (or stabs, if you will) at the new Scream films, which is the main reason the 2000 Scary Movie is so damn good.
Unfortunately, this was not. We were not fans here at Dread Central, calling Scary Movie straight-up unfunny. “The sixth Scary Movie gets the team back together, then fails to give them material that’s worth the effort,” writes Josh Korngut in his review.
