Houseguests (Short)

artwork-coming-soonStarring Tyler Dupp, Jenna Elberson

Directed by Matthew Therrien

Very rarely do I intentionally go out of my way to look for short films; the shorts that I usually seek out are those found in anthology films like V/H/S, ABC’s of Death, etc. However, this week I was in the mood to watch something new and came across this short on YouTube.

Writer and director Matthew Therrien delivers a fun story that is purely visual; hardly any spoken dialogue can be found in the three-minute short, and it is fairly entertaining. I’m not too familiar with Therrien as a writer or director; this could be his first short for all I know, but he managed to put something interesting together that seems to have multiple layers to it.

I will say that the editing is a bit too choppy, but everything else was very enjoyable. The acting is pretty decent as well. The short only has two characters, portrayed by Tyler Dupp and Jenna Elberson, the former being the lead. Dupp does a decent job with what he is given, but his acting partner Elberson isn’t given anything to do. The story is, however, solely about Dupp’s character, and I think her addition to the short adds depth.

All in all I would highly recommend checking this one out. See it in full below!
