While this was certainly one of the shortest shorts I’ve ever reviewed, that didn’t mean director Enrico Conte’s wonderful quickie called Leaning was devoid of creepiness or gore.

The short begins with a woman (Volpe) listening on a small transistor radio about the local horror that has befallen several innocent people around the small town she resides in, all at the expense of a mysterious serial killer. Enter one scraggly, worn-down priest with an attitude (Pugliese) and a crucifix-stake to do his dirty work.

Due to the fact that this was such a rapid-fire time killer, the ability to spill any further details would certainly ruin any amount of fun you’d have by checking this one out.

With a few nice splashings of gore (and a small bit of lame CGI), the bloodhounds should be appeased, and the visual styling of a grayed-out village serves as an eye-pleaser and sets the stage for a sweet payoff. Plainly put, absolute minimal dialogue (other than a radio transmission) and some moderate violence all add up to a fun watch that shouldn’t be passed up when it’s released upon the populous.
