Silent Night, Deadly Podcast: Ep17 – BLOOD BEAT (1983)

You asked for it, Dan Haggerty asked for it, Krampus’ mother asked for it, and now Dread Central is proud to present the year-round Christmas horror podcast you’ve long been waiting for… Silent Night, Deadly Podcast! Chris, Kieran, Matt, and Rob – collectively known as “The Jingle Boys” to some and “The Christmas Horribles” to others – are prepared to take you on one demented journey through a winter wonderland of the best and worst tinsel terror the big (and small) screen has to offer.

How does one describe Blood Beat? This 80s slasher film takes place in the backwoods of Wisconsin, where the soul of a samurai warrior possesses a young woman. It’s all during her boyfriend’s family Christmas celebration, with the vengeful spirit lashing out against victims in violent fashion. Did I mention that mother is a telepathic painter and the samurai ghost’s host also achieves climax every time he slaughters someone? So yeah, wholesome holiday entertainment!

This, somehow, isn’t the weirdest title the Jingle Boys have conquered. You remember Elves starring Dan Haggerty, don’t you? You’d think it’d be a unanimous hit across all opinions, but there’s trouble in Toyland as most of this episode is spent trying to decipher the hidden clues of Blood Best. Will the Jingle Boys cobble together enough reason to appreciate Blood Beat?
