Today is a packed day for VOD releases so let’s forgo the usual chit-chat and get right to it, shall we? Read on for a closer look at the three brand spankin’ new genre films that are now available for your digital enjoyment!

First up is Jabbar Raisani’s sci-fi flick Alien Outpost (review), which pits American soldiers up against extraterrestrial invaders. Our own Matt Boiselle hailed the future-set film as one of the best sci-fi action movies he’s seen in a long time so this one is definitely worth your time.

In the film two documentary cameramen are embedded in an army unit in the most hostile place on earth, an outpost surrounded by the last remaining alien fighters (Heavies) of an invading attack force. The world may have forgotten about the Outposts, but the Heavies are planning the second invasion of Earth, and the soldiers are the only ones who can stop it.

Also out today is the latest film from Rob Hall (Laid to Rest), a feature-length version of his web series Fear Clinic. Though it’s not headed to home video until February 10th, Anchor Bay made the film available for rental on select outlets today, including Amazon, VUDU, and iTunes.

The film stars horror icon Robert Englund as Dr. Andover, a fear doctor who runs the titular clinic and uses his “Fear Chamber” to animate his patients’ fears in the form of terrifying hallucinations. However, the good doctor soon begins to suspect that something more sinister may be at work, something that yearns to be more than just an hallucination.

And finally, Excision director Richard Bates, Jr., returns with Suburban Gothic (review), which stars the likes of Kat Dennings, Jeffrey Combs, Ray Wise, and even John Waters. The horror-comedy comes our way courtesy of FilmBuff.

Main character Raymond has a prestigious MBA, but he can’t find work. He can channel the paranormal, but chatting with a cute girl mystifies him. Kicked out of his big city apartment, Raymond returns home to his overbearing mother, ex-jock father, and beer-bellied classmates. But when a vengeful ghost terrorizes the small town, the city-boy recruits Becca, a badass local bartender, to solve the mystery of the spirit threatening everyone’s lives.
