Sigmund & the Sea Monsters Invade Theaters
And the world has become just a little less magical … Variety reports that Universal has sealed the deal on yet another film adaptation of a Sid & Marty Kroft production from the 70’s, “Sigmund & the Sea Monsters”. Already a $100 million Land of the Lost movie has been made and an H.R. Puffnstuff film is in pre-production.
For those who missed it in their childhood, “Sigmund” was the ongoing tale of a nice sea monster whose nasty brothers kick him out for not being enough of an asshole. He’s befriended by some human kids who stash him in their clubhouse.
”The Simpsons” writer Dana Gould has been brought on to pen the live-action Sigmund & the Sea Monsters film, with the Kroft brothers producing alongside Jimmy Miller under his Mosaic banner. Hopefully their influence on the film will allow some of the magic to remain, but to me it just feels wrong.
