We know a lot of you Dreadies are avid readers so we’re always on the lookout for interesting sounding books and stories to send your way, and releasing today (November 4th) is The Sword of Michael by Marcus Wynne, a real-life exorcist.
The book, published by Baen, follows a shaman’s journey into the underworld to save the ones he loves and includes some epic action scenes and battles against mutants and the undead. It is Book One in a new hard-hitting contemporary fantasy saga.
Wynne (pictured above) is a practicing depossessionist, or exorcist, and following his intensive training in the field, he ventured into an extended apprenticeship that involved him in over one thousand depossessions, exorcisms, and earth clearings all over the country.
But there’s a lot more to Wynne than meets the eye. He’s also the CEO of Accentus-Ludus LLC, the world’s foremost training designer for high-stress occupations. He is a military veteran of the US Army’s 82d Airborne and a federal law enforcement veteran who served with the Federal Air Marshal Program.
His life was thrown into chaos when a cancerous tumor was discovered in his colon; the course of the disease and the surgeries led to the destruction of his income, his marriage, and his family and put a halt to his career as a successful novelist of highly realistic action-thrillers that drew from his own experiences.
Then… he died during the eighth of his nine major surgeries. During a classic Near Death Experience, he was offered the chance to return to fulfill his life’s mission. During his recovery, famous Chicago psychic Sonia Choquette urged him to explore his talents for healing, “Try shamanic, Marcus. Shamanic healing…,” she said. He did, and that path led to him becoming a student of the foremost practitioner of shamanic depossession in the country, Betsy Bergstrom.
This is the first time Marcus, a successful CEO of a highly regarded Department of Defense contractor, has combined the two worlds of counter-terror training and spiritual depossession. The Sword of Michael is so technically accurate — in military fighting technique AND exorcism — that it could be used as a textbook in either field.
Marius Winter fights evil every day… when he’s not smoking cigars with his spirit allies or lingering in bed with his beautiful girlfriend.
He’s got the best for back-up: a special operations soldier to watch his back, a Wiccan priestess for a girlfriend, and a drop-dead gorgeous biker babe who just happens to be the shamanic equivalent of the CIA… and that’s not even counting his spirit allies.
He needs them all in a fight against a powerful sorcerer sent by the Ruler of Hell, Belial, aka Lucifer. In the battle to rescue the souls of his friends and lover, he must storm the gates of the underworld and fight through the Seven Demi-Demons of Hell to the deepest dungeons – where Belial dwells.
