Pyun Ready to Film Again in Argentina

Lee Horsley (click to see it bigger!)Legendary – and extremely eclectic – director Albert Pyun dropped us a line last night to let us know that on May 5th he’ll start shooting Tales of an Ancient Empire, his long-awaited follow-up to the movie he’s best known for: The Sword and the Sorcerer.

Like Pyun’s recently released Left for Dead (review), Tales, which stars Christopher Lambert and Kevin Sorbo as swashbuckling rogues who are half-brothers, is lensing in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Joining Lambert and Sorbo is Left for Dead‘s Victoria Maurette as their younger half-sister, Tanis. The three siblings have different mothers (a court maiden, a farm girl, and a queen) but share the same surly and womanizing dad, original Sword and Sorcerer star Lee Horsley (pictured).

According to Pyun, his new saga is the “ultimate anti-Lord of the Rings. It’s got a sexy sorceress; hordes of demonic vampires; a giant serpent; sea pirates; nasty sword, axe, and spear fights; and gore and nudity galore.” In short, Tales of an Ancient Empire seems to provide everything that a rousing horror adventure story needs to have. Demons and vampires, nudity and gore? Sign me up!

Look for more casting news and production updates in the coming weeks as filming of Tales of an Ancient Empire gets under way.
