Gamescom: Quantum Break's Gameplay Demo Stops Time; Blows MindsIn the middle of a very impressive press conference from Microsoft, Sam Lake of Remedy Entertainment gave Xbox owners their first look at one of the console’s most intriguing exclusives, Quantum Break.

In Quantum Break you play as Jack Joyce, and due to a failed time travel experiment, you are now imbued with the ability to control time. Lake describes the game as “time amplified, action gameplay.” Take note, sci-fi fans.

At its core the gameplay breaks down to being a third person shooter, but added to the action is the fact that Jack can slow down time and even use his ability to stop bullets. This game is clearly walking in the path once blazed by Max Payne.

But the failed experiment had averse effects beyond Jack. Time itself is now rifting and stopping at certain intervals. Developers call the phenomena “stutters.” The game’s big bad, Monarch Solutions, is hunting Jack and possesses the technology to enter the stutters – and in the game demo – force a one vs. many gunfight. It appears nowhere… and time… is safe for our hero in the action-heavy demo for Quantum Break.

Quantum Break is coming exclusively to the Xbox One. No release date has been given.
