Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood Announces Two New Scare Zones: Dark Christmas and SkullzJohn Murdy, Creative Director of Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood, tweeted up a storm last night, revealing two new Scare Zones heading to the popular haunted attraction: “DARK CHRISTMAS” (complete with Krampus) and the Wendigo-based “SKULLZ.”

Here’s Murdy’s running commentary:

In case you didn’t hear…we announced 2 NEW SCARE ZONES today…so lets start off with the “Baker Street” scare zone…”DARK CHRISTMAS.”
“For most of the world, Christmas is a time for holiday cheer but in certain parts of the world, it is a time of fear and dread…”
“That’s because they celebrate the DARK side of CHRISTMAS with terrifying tales of demonic creatures that hunt down disobedient children…”
“The most famous of these creatures is Krampus, The Christmas Devil…the evil version of good ol’ Saint Nick…”
Now that Krampus and his mythological companions have been unleashed on the streets of Universal Studios, It’s going to be a Scary Christmas!
Have you been naughty or nice?

The second new scare zone is in the lower lot of the theme park…and its called “SKULLZ”
This scare zone is inspired by the Native American legend of Wendigo, a malevolent half-beast creature w/ an insatiable appetite for humans!
These are giant, wraith-like creatures with animal skulls for heads…lots of different animals…
Legend says that these creatures were never satisfied with killing and consuming just one person…
Their hunger drives them to constantly be on the hunt for new victims. Will you be their next meal?
Scareactor Concept Art will be released in the days ahead, along with Behind the Screams videos of the mazes…so stay tuned for that…

Halloween Horror Nights 2014 at Universal Studios Hollywood will be “More Dead Than Ever” as it brings together the sickest minds in horror to immerse guests in the living, breathing, three-dimensional world of the most notorious and terrifying creatures in existence. This year’s event will feature a slate of all-new unrivaled film production quality mazes, terror-filled scare zones and a fully re-imagined “Terror Tram” experience, uniquely themed to today’s most definitive horror properties, including, “The Walking Dead: The End of the Line,” based on AMC’s critically-acclaimed, Golden Globe®-nominated and Emmy® Award-winning television series; “From Dusk Till Dawn,” inspired by Robert Rodriguez’s cult film and El Rey network’s TV series; “Dracula Untold: Reign of Blood,” based on Universal Pictures’ upcoming epic action-adventure; “AVP: Alien vs. Predator,” based on the Twentieth Century Fox film franchise; “An American Werewolf in London,” based on Universal Pictures’ Academy Award®-winning and genre-defining film, written and directed by John Landis; “Face Off: In the Flesh,” based on Syfy’s hit TV series; “The Purge: Anarchy,” a new scare zone inspired by Universal Pictures’ blockbuster thriller; and “Clowns 7D Music by SLASH,” a psychedelic 7D maze that unmasks Coulrophobia as guests parade through “Sweet Licks Frozen Clown Pops Family Amusement Center.”
